Megan Waxman is a Clinical Psychology Doctoral Candidate with experience working with children, adolescents, adults, and families in the treatment of anxiety disorders, trauma-related concerns, executive functioning difficulties, depression, and behavioral challenges. Megan approaches treatment with flexibility, empathy, and thoughtfulness, tailoring interventions to meet the unique needs of each individual.

Megan utilizes a range of evidence-based treatments, including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Unstuck and On Target, Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Parent Management Training (PMT), Let’s Connect, and Supportive Parents of Anxious Childhood Emotions (SPACE). When working with youth, she enjoys collaborating closely with parents and families, including teaching caregivers skills to strengthen their connection with their child.

Megan previously completed clinical training in Rehabilitation Psychology at the Children’s Hospital Colorado, where she specialized in treating anxiety, depression, and trauma-related concerns among youth with significant medical complexities. Megan also has experience conducting neuropsychological and psychodiagnostic assessments, with a focus on learning disabilities, ADHD, and socioemotional concerns.

Megan earned her undergraduate degree in Psychology and Human Communication Sciences from Northwestern University before pursuing her PhD in Clinical Psychology at the University of Denver. In addition to her clinical work, she conducts research on adolescent depression, and her work has been presented at national conferences and published in several peer-review journals. She is particularly interested in understanding how environmental contexts and social relationships influence youth mental health risk, and these interests closely inform her clinical practice.

Outside of graduate school and clinical work, Megan enjoys trying new recipes, painting, and exploring new restaurants in Denver. Megan especially loves taking her energetic dog, Lily, on hikes and visits to the dog park.
